Hello! My name is Michelle, I am 25 years old. I have dual nationality, American and Chilean. I have lived in many places throughout my life including the USA, Vietnam, France, the UK, and Chile. I attended high-school in Vietnam, and University in England. I've been working as an English teacher for over 5 years. I speak both English and Spanish thereby I know what it is like to learn English as a second language. About 3 years ago I began teaching online as some of my students l moved abroad and wished to continue classes. I have been teaching English for a while now, part of the reason I began was the frustration I had whilst learning a new language. Born in Chile I learned English by fully immersing myself in it, which is a luxury not everybody has. I can relate to my students as I had many of the same questions they did as I learned. Over the years I have worked with students from different cultures, Korean, Chilean, Russian, Americans, French, and many others. It has helped me understand the important power of conversation and games to bridge those differences in cultures. I enjoy learning from my students as we laugh about how ridiculous some of the idioms of languages are. I like to balance grammar with practical conversational skills. Making mistakes is a big part of what I like to encourage my students. It enables the learning process to sink in even more and have even better results. I love spending time outdoors with my dog, we go to do hikes and ride bicycles whenever we get the chance. I also love slow tourism, a way of traveling which inspires me to learn from different cultures and meet many interesting people along the way.
